Serendib finds the connections between research, filings, code, and policy that no search or alert would surface, and sends you five every Monday, with evidence from both sides.

A cathode preprint quietly changes a grid-storage company’s supply-risk math

We report a layered oxide cathode that retains 92% of capacity after 4,000 cycles using no lithium.

Our margins remain highly sensitive to the price of lithium carbonate , for which we have no long-term contracts.

This week’s connections
Published one week after subscribers receive them. No issue has been published yet. The cards below are examples, labelled illustrative. Counts are omitted until the pipeline has a real week to report.

We traced the weekend outage to a quieter failure: the bus ran hotter than the model allowed .
Swanson already showed the shape. The week is the same shape, run on a wider desk.
Ingest
Primary sources arrive daily: preprints, filings, releases, rules. Text is stored. Full documents are not republished.
Connect
Pairs are proposed across domains, in a moderate similarity band, or through a shared bridge. Neighbours of a keyword are discarded.
Verify
A model must return a quote from each side that string-matches the stored text. No match, no connection.
Deliver
A person approves the week. Five connections, plus one wildcard, go out on Monday. The archive follows a week later.
The serendipity contract
If a keyword alert would have found it, it is not in the digest.
It spans two sources and two fields.
A keyword search on either side would not have found the pair.
Both sources contain quoted evidence.
Nobody has publicly linked them before.
Ask the index from Claude.
Add the Serendib MCP server and ask “what’s connected to sodium-ion cathodes since September?” from inside Claude.
